Taking A Look At George Simchuk

Brought up on a farm near Spokane, WA., and the oldest of six children, George Simchuk earned from Washington State University, his Bachelor of Science Mining Engineering degree. These outstanding qualifications earned him a job as a shift foreman with the Anaconda Company working in Chile. After five quality years there , George moved on to San Francisco and took on the position of Mining Engineer with Utah International Inc. He continued his efforts and rose to the Master of Mining services position, where his technical services responsibilities covered Australia, South America and North America as well.
George’s two sons from his marriage which unfortunately ended in divorce, both went through Medical School and today practice in California and Oregon respectively.
George would go on to various employment efforts where his talents and skills lead him to outstanding opportunities. These would include working in Gunnison, Colorado with Uranium Mine, in Wyoming with Pathfinder Mines, back to San Francisco briefly before becoming CEO of Pathfinder located in Maryland at Bethesda. Then in 1993, George retired to Sandpoint, Idaho and devoted his attention to cattle ranching.
In 1997, he would be lured out of retirement to become Vice President of Panamanian Gold Operations for Campbell Resources of Toronto. He did an outstanding job for two years when he opted to retire again and pursue his dream of traveling to East Africa which he had always held.
In 2006, George Simchuk came out of retirement to take over as General Manager of the Mexican operation of Glamis Gold. He did his usual outstanding job for two years before opting again to retire and return to East Africa, where he would camp in Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya. He would also find the time to scale Mt. Kilimanjaro as well.
George Simchuk had learned to fly in Chile almost 45 years earlier. He has used that experience and put it to work doing numerous wonderful and life-saving things such as fling cancer patients to the major cities where they can get the treatment they require, and working with and teaching children the many advantages of learning to fly.
All in all, it has been and continues to be a memorable life for George Simchuk.
